When you enter a challenge, we store the link to your dance video and a thumbnail of it. We also collect basic technical data such as your IP address and browser information to keep the competition fair and secure.

How We Use It

We use your information to run the competition, verify your account, process your entries and votes, protect against fraud and vote manipulation, and send you notifications about your entries and results. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

What Is Public

Some of your information is public by design, because Yano Stars is about being seen. Your display name, province, bio, social handles, entries, achievements and rankings appear on your public dancer profile. Your email address and password are never public.

Data Sharing

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers who help us run the platform, such as our hosting and email providers, and only to the extent needed to deliver the service.

Cookies & Sessions

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Data Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing and are never visible to us. The site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections.

Your Rights

You can view and update most of your information from your dashboard. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, contact us and we will help.

Children's Privacy

Yano Stars is intended for participants who can lawfully enter a competition in South Africa. If you are a minor, please make sure a parent or guardian is aware of and consents to your participation.
